Let's move on

.

It is almost Halloween after all... and now that we've had the spooky post below, let's have a fun one above it.
.
Today at work, there was a pumpkin carving contest. Big deal, right? Yeah, that's what I thought too. Oh my gosh was I wrong! WOW
.
Each department got into it and they were soo competitive. I've never seen anything like it. Now I didn't have a camera handy to take pictures of all the different departments, and because this was a raffle for charity, the pumpkins have already been 'won' by people so they are gone.
.
But I do have some shots that I received via email from a co worker of a few of the departments... including the department who won the contest.
.
Here's what we did all day at work, lol.
.
First up:
.
Finance Department
.
They turned their pumpkin into Cinderella...glitter and everything on their pumpkin. How stinkin' cute is that? This was the first pumpkin on display, so it raised the bar. No one even thought about add-ons before this....lol
.
Next up, came
Police Department
.
Theirs was the most fun one. If you look closely you can see the half eaten doughnut and coffee on the car. And they are carrying a smaller pumpkin behind them (there is a sign on top marked 'paddy wagon', lol)
.
Ours is the
.
Tax Department
.
We pretty much freaked out when we saw the other ones, as our department consists of 5 girls. Our idea of carving a pumpkin was cut out triangles and a mouth. So, we downloaded some 'easy clown mask pumpkin tips' from the internet and went to the dollar store to buy a carving kit on our break. Then, I called my dad and asked him to raid my daughter's toybox and bring me her Mr. Potato Head's arms so I could use them.
.
I am not sure what the next one is really supposed to be:
.
.
Community Services Department
.
And the winner is
.
.
.
.
The Planning Department
.
It's no wonder they deal with building permits and construction by-laws. I mean just LOOK at their work of art. This must have been planned for for a while. I mean, seriously, did they create blueprints for it? It was awesome. I even voted for it to win, even though I told the girls in Taxes that I voted for ours, tee hee.
.
My only question is, for the people who won these pumpkins... I wonder how they took them home in one piece?
.
I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

My word, what an huge amount of effort you all put in (still trying to work out the community services one myself lol). And yes, the planning department certainly have the advantage I reckon. Who the hell spent all day (or perhaps the previous night) carving out all those little windows? Brilliant.

We don't really acknowledge Halloween here in NZ. I actually bought candy this afternoon just in case anyone traipsed up the stairs to my house. Came home tonight to find noone had turned up at all. Don't know why I bothered buying the stuff...they've never knocked on our door before either lol

Hope your kiddies (and yourselves of course) have a fun and spooky evening :)

That's too neat-o.Just for your office's efforts you gals should be rewarded.Cuz as you could see,I had NO help whatsoever doing my DIVERSITY BOARD which took me a whole lotta-time,and a ton of my OWN supplies and we still don't know who won.It was SUPPOSED to be a team thing, but wound up being a Tammi-Thing!
So kudo's for ya'll doing this as a team!! Even if u didn't win 1st place.Yours is cool too!!!

Lisa - I didn't realize Halloween was not universally equally celebrated... I thought everyone did it.

I don't necessarily enjoy the day, but the kids like it. I for one, could live without the walking in the cold rain for an hour, then coming home and being 'bothered' all night by the doorbell.

Again, it's for the kids so it's okay.

Tammi - I hate those type of projects that start out as a 'team project' but somehow turns into a project done by you only. Ugh.

Jazz - They totally deserved it,eh?

Yep, government job.
Nobody who has a REAL job would be able to design and carve pumpkins all day at work.

I WORKED all day. I was dissapointed because I borrowed Leah's mouse veil (mouse ears with sequens all over it and a nice tool veil, perfect for any bride). I could not wear it because I work in family law and we had a mediation all day where the ex-spouses HATED each other. Yeah, I had to take the veil off.

Beautiful day here, not a cloud in the sky!

Have a great Halloween!!!

Wow. It's nice that your company has a sense of humour. It's a good morale building exercise (with a does of healthy competition thrown in). :-)

I'm not sure what the community service pumpkin is....and I'm not too surprised that the tax department won their pumpkin.

This reminds me of Valencia, in Spain.

Every year we have the Fallas - huge bonfires and companies - government and industry, organisations etc would build these massive structures to display and then...burn....

Oh those are great! I have absolutely no imagination when it comes to pumpkins. I don't like to carve them either. M always does ours, sometimes the kids will help. I don't like decorating Christmas trees either. Childhood traumas with an OCD mother. *sigh*
